Indonesia Asian Festival Participate in the U.S.

Indonesian people who live in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas, together with the Consulate General (consulate) in Houston, promote Indonesia in the Asian Festival 2011 in Oklahoma City, United States (U.S.), Saturday (14 / 5).

Indonesia Pavilion featuring a variety of handicraft items and traditional Indonesian clothing, as well as photo exhibits, brochures, and posters containing information about Indonesia, said Consul General in Houston Al Busyra Basnur, in a press statement on Monday.

Asian Festival 2011diselenggarakan by the Asia Society of Oklahoma. Besides Indonesia, the countries participating are China, India, Japan, Iran, Korea, Laos, Philippines and Vietnam. The festival was also held in Miss Asia contest.

Indonesian President-American Association of Oklahoma as well as public relations coordinator for the Asian Festival of 2011, Ira Simbolon Burrough said that Indonesia’s presence in the Asian Festival is to introduce Indonesia to the wider U.S. society, especially in Oklahoma City.

Indonesia Pavilion crowded room. They marveled at the Indonesian goods on display. Not a few of the visitors who expressed interest in visiting Indonesia after the Indonesian pavilion was witnessed.

Consul General Al Busyra Basnur was present and mingled with the organizing committee and local people who crowded around the pavilion of Indonesia.

On that occasion, the Houston Consulate General also held a service “consular stall” in the Indonesian pavilion, with the aim of providing consular services to the people of Indonesia who can not come to the Consulate General Houston to settle their affairs related to consular affairs.

Indonesian society convey a sense of fun because the Houston Consulate General has helped them. They no longer need to come to Houston that were located so far away or send their documents through mail service.

In the evening, the Consul General in Houston and wife Wenny Busyra held a dinner with about 60 people, mainly Indonesian citizens in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas in a restaurant in the city.

Consul General Al Busyra Basnur, in his speech among other things to express our appreciation and gratitude to the Indonesian community in Oklahoma City for their positive role in promoting Indonesia as long as these were included in the 2011 Asian Festival.
