NEW YORK – Paul McCartney may be one more to work with the Gorillaz, the cartoon band created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. The Gorillaz latest album, “Plastic beach”, shares had weight, like Lou Reed, Snoop Dogg, Mick Jones and Paul Simonon (The Clash), and the only way for McCartney did not have scheduling problems.
The revelation was made to reporter Stephen Dalton, Quietus.com site. Commenting on the sound experiences made by the former Beatle on the album “McCartney II”, which is being relaunched, Dalton said he was surprised that there has never been collaborating with Albarn.
“We’ve talked. Nothing serious, but I like what they do. I have met and we talked to Damon. It was close (to happen) a few times but never had time, I think …”
The other side is also interested in partnership, of course. A source told British newspaper The Sun: “Damon originally gave the idea to do something with the Gorillaz for the Q Awards (in 2007) and they are trying ever since. It did not work for the last album, ‘Plastic Beach’ but the expectation is good for the future. “
